The Sip Scene: Bare Roots’ Valentine’s Specials

The Sip Scene showcases unique libations from around the basin. Whether it’s a type of beer, wine, cocktail — you name it — we’ll uncover those tasty beverages for you to try at one of the countless local breweries, bars and restaurants.

Any time we can connect the Sip Scene with a holiday, is a good time. And while I’m not going to get into all six offerings on the Valentine’s Day menu, I am going to talk about the extremely delicious drink I was able to sample: the chocolate strawberry latte.

Like with virtually any coffee, you have the option for this drink to be hot or cold. Because the strawberry cold foam is such a delight when wrapping its arms around the chilled latte, iced was the way to go. Plus, I was over this mini winter heat wave, so I needed something cold to remind me it’s still winter.

Many of you are coffee drinkers and I’m sure you can all envision what a latte tastes like. Add a little chocolate and strawberry and this drink vaults into another stratosphere. My strawberry cold foam went insanely fast, and they were kind enough to give me a little more, which I inhaled equally as fast. I think that is this drink’s superpower.

As part of the Valentine’s Day specials, through the end of the week you can include a succulent plant (provided by Botanical Arts Company) in your order for an additional $5. And, if your too busy in your day to hop down and grab it yourself, you can get the offer Door Dashed to you.

If succulents and amped up coffee drinks are not your thing, don’t worry. Bare Roots has also crafted a special “Lover’s Roast” for the holiday – named (in part) after Lover’s Leap. While the coffee doesn’t suggest taking the “leap” with your loved one this Valentine’s Day, this small batch, single origin organic roast does bring in notes of tropical fruit for a balanced and slightly sweet flavor.

Bare Roots Coffee & Kava Lounge is located at 2572 Lake Tahoe Blvd #3 in South Lake Tahoe. For menu and general information visit them online at barerootscoffeetahoe.com or reach them by phone at 530-600-4422.
