Incline AYSO is fully kicking in the Village

Special to the Bonanza

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – For years and years the Incline AYSO, the American Youth Soccer Organization, has been a staple in the Fall for many Incline Village boys and girls. Well, Saturday Aug. 24 was the official kick off for the Incline Village 995 AYSO at the Ridgeline Fields behind Incline Middle School.

First year Commissioner Alex Taylor and his team of volunteers are excited to have so many kids in Incline playing soccer this season.

“On behalf of the AYSO board and our dedicated coaches and volunteers, we’d like to invite you, the families of over 200 AYSO athletes to the Incline Village 995 AYSO opening day,” Taylor announced.

Teams have been made for five different leagues this year; under 5-6, under 8, under 10, under 12 and under 14. The U5-6 leagues are coed where boys and girls play 4 on 4 on small fields. Once players start playing in the U8 division there are separate girls and boys leagues where the fields and number of players increase in size.

In partnership with the Incline Village General Improvement District the local AYSO rents fields all over Incline: the three Ridgeline Fields as well as the upper and lower village green fields.

The Incline teams compete with teams from Tahoe City and Truckee for their regular season that goes from late August into early October. The highlight of the season is when the Incline teams battle each other not only for bragging rights at school but also the opportunity to represent our local league in Carson City at the Cookies tournament.

Saturday Aug. 24 was a celebration for many Incline families to watch their children play and begin a new season of school and soccer. Two U12 teams, a girls team and a boys team hosted a couple Tahoe City teams in front of the home fans. Both groups of athletes represented the village well and came home with hard fought victories.

Then, all of the kids were able to enjoy a great day with team pictures, face painting, bounce houses, inflatable slides, goalie wars, a food truck and ice cream.
