"Water and Fire" is the theme of the art exhibit of original silk paintings by Tahoe artist Dorothy Davis at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.
Her work, which will be on display through May 30, features peaceful scenes of Lake Tahoe at Valhalla and Kokanee salmon at Taylor Creek contrasted with images of the Angora fire.
The Davis exhibit is the first in a series of six-week art shows at the library. The public is invited to view the Davis exhibit as well as enjoy the art by Bijou Community School artists in the children's room at the library. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Davis' artwork also is available at the Snowflake Gallery at Barton Memorial Hospital, the Tahoe Art League Art Center on Lake Tahoe Boulevard, Art for the Home on Ski Run and Artisans International in Minden.
